What Will Hope Look Like At The End Of The World?
Ann's story is one of pure emotion, as it plays on our need to connect with others.
Just imagine surviving something that killed millions of people, only to be left stranded in the woods. We can't even begin to conceive what that feeling would be like and fortunately for us all, Ann is giving us an inside look.
Z For Zachariah brings feelings out of it's viewers such as desperation, hope and compassion, by showing the process in which we all bond with one another.
A kind gesture here, a warm smile there and before you know it, we become friends and sometimes even more.
But even when we find hope, there can be an element of danger...
Only The Strong Survive
Danger may present itself in many ways within our civilized society, but at the end of the world, everything will be up for grabs.
Just take John Loomis(Ejiofor) for example. Here's one man with nothing to lose and everything to gain, who haphazardly stumbles into a patch a fresh air and is instantly startled by the presence of another person.
The mind is a mysterious place and it can begin to play tricks on you when you've been as isolated as the cast within this film.
"Z For Zachariah" does an excellent job of showing what it means to find humanity within a land of despair.
But What Happens When Life Throws A Curve?
Now as we all know, a film just isn't complete without a few twists thrown into the fray. You know those little tidbits writers like to toss in at the last minute that spice things up.
Which brings us to Caleb, a third survivor in Ann's story whose unclear intentions add an uneasy mix of chaos to the newly formed duo's struggle.
You see Caleb(Chris Pines)" isn't in as bad a shape as John and as you can see in his eyes, he may be looking for more than peace of mind.
So what's he really after? How is he still alive? And is he friend or foe? Guess you'll have to watch the movie to find out ;)
