![]() Next time you get invited over for dinner, you may want to reconsider your decision. At least that's what Iris should have done, before agreeing to have dinner with the Lambricks. This horror film takes the innocence of a popular game titled "Would You Rather" and replaces fun-loving questions with grim, dark irreversible options. It's an entertaining film, despite it's "Saw"-like tendencies which force players to choose the lesser of two evils. So let's take a seat at the Lambrick table and see what's for dinner. Iris(Snow) is a young woman struggling to take care of a sick brother who is in dire need of a bone marrow transplant. Desperate for help, she is introduced to Shepard Lambrick(Combs) during a meeting with Dr. Barden, who is managing her younger brother's health. Shepard informs Iris of a once in a lifetime opportunity that can drastically change the course of her life, as well as, improve the condition of her brother's health. The opportunity seems simple enough because all she would have to do is have dinner with Mr. Lambrick and play a little game afterwards. One thing that Iris doesn't know is that some games have a little more at stake than an awkward moment. "Would You Rather" is one of those horror films that gets right to the meat and potatoes. There's no long buildup and creepy music to set the stage, it's ready to go as soon as you press play. The characters within the movie are identifiable including a recovering alcoholic, a paralyzed elderly woman and gambler, who are all looking for financial freedom. These types of characters could easily be one of us looking for an opportunity to change our destiny over night. It's not a deep film, but it has enough action to keep the average viewer interested as soon as the dinner party begins. Brittany Snow, the main actress has played in several films such as "Hairspray" and even a few thrillers such as "Prom Night" which makes her the perfect cast member to fill the shoes of Iris. She's pretty and has that innocent demeanor we look for in an actress to keep a horror from being mindless gore. Iris is the voice of reason within the film, she is the character we get to tag along with throughout the movie. It is her desperation that even allowed us to bear witness to the bittersweet meal she and several others are served at the Lambrick house. In the realm of spine-tingling, this film doesn't have that, but what it does have are some sick individuals whose idea of fun is to watch people do the unthinkable for money. Take the recovering alcoholic,Conway, for example, this guy hasn't had a drink in years, but for a hefty sum he compromises his own integrity. We've all felt that everyone has a price at sometime or another, but for these dinner guests, their time is now. Because once you sit down at the Lambrick table there's no getting up to go to the bathroom, there's only a decision. So with that said, now "Would You Rather"? Unhinged Reviews recommends this film for those in need of a quick hit of horror without all the dark lighting and demonic possession. It's a decent film that can be watched alone or with friends on a Saturday night when there's not much to do.
