![]() We didn't think it was possible, but Marvel pulled it off with another great adventure from X-Men's own, Wolverine! This time we find Logan overseas visiting an old friend from his wartime days in Tokyo. While there,"The Wolverine" sheds even more light on Logan's torment of nightmares and haunting visions from his rugged beginnings and even more uncertain future. But where will Logan go from here, no one knows, but one thing we know is that it will be one helluva ride! Let's suit up and Unhinge this puppy.. Now with Marvel's successful run off the X-Men series, it's unclear why they haven't chosen to highlight any of the other mutants who each have awesome stories of their own. If we had to guess, we could easily assume that it's because Wolverine is the most identifiable out of the whole crew. You see, Wolverine is human much like any of us, except with a few mutations such as having eXtremely sharp senses and an eXtraordinary ability to heal at an uncanny rate. These attributes make him appear to be invincible, but he can die like the rest of us, if he is critically wounded beyond repair. He's almost like a zombie, you'll have to take his head, if you want to kill him. (lol) Along with mutant senses and rapid healing, his skeleton has been encased within adamantium which is virtually indestructible(in the marvel world) that provides him with claws and increased strength. Now by no means are we Marvel experts, but that's a quick spec run down for the man of the hour. Looking forward into the film, "Yeah, we know this is what you've been waiting for", Wolverine finds himself reconnecting with an old friend in Tokyo. During his stay abroad, he is propositioned with a trade of giving away his god-like abilities for our weaker qualities of disease and death. Now this makes for an interesting question in Logan's life, "Live in mental anguish for hundreds of years or be released from purgatory?" It's not an actual hell, but if you let Logan tell it, he'd rather be someplace else doing something else. Needless to say, however, that his so-called friend has other motives behind his proposition rather than just to do a good deed. What will Logan decide? Well, your just going to have to watch the movie to find out! This film has plenty of action and all the zest that you would expect from "The Wolverine" at this point. He's raw, passionate and deep-down really a great guy, once you get to know his character(just don't tell him we said that..lol). Hugh Jackman has really embraced Wolverine's essence and it seems that his performances get better with every installment, as he learns to balance that hard bravado with care-bear guts. Yeah, we said it, Wolverine's a big ol' softy and we love him for it! James Mangold did an excellent job of directing this film which has elevated Logan's stature to new heights and ultimately broadened his reach with the audiences. A critical film such as this could have easily been a disaster, if it had been force-fed with the same old angles that we've seen in the previous movies, so a fresh take was unavoidable. The supporting cast within the film also gives memorable performances as introductions of new characters like Viper(Khodchenkova) and Yukio(Fukushima) take shape within Wolverine's story. So was this a solid film? We think so, how about u?
