What Is The Purge?
Okay, so if you've been reading Unhinged Reviews for sometime, you've probably read the reviews of the last few purges. But, if you didn't here they are: The Purge & Purge: Anarchy
So basically, "The Purge" is a fictional period of time in which all crime is legal including murder for 24 hours that occurs once a year in the U.S to help people feel better about life in general. In the first Purge, the story was presented as merely a kill-fest shown from one family's point of view. In the second, it was about one man with nothing to lose seeking justice. This time around Sergeant Barnes(Grillo) from last year's Purge is trying to help others and put a stop to the Purge..period. However, this is easier said than done because there is a lot of money to be made during the Purge. This is one of the most interesting concepts within the film that exhibits how the U.S.A makes money off of the misfortune of it's own people. Anyway back to the movie, in the "Election Year" a presidential candidate becomes the target of this year's Purge and everyone must pull together to save her. The story is interesting enough, but that's not the real reason I watched this film. Why Try To Kill Senator Roan?
So when's the last time you've seen a movie that paralleled actual events currently going on in the U.S?
This Senator Roan(Mitchelll) is the ideal version of Hillary Clinton, even though we all know that the real Diane is nowhere near as honorable as this film's character. But, whether we like it or not she is the heroine in this film and must be saved so that she can restore order to this chaotic world we now live in. Now, along with her plight, there's a cutthroat Trump pulling every trick out of his hat to kill her and keep the country in misery. Or should I say keep the rich richer and poor poorer? You see anytime someone represents change, there will always be a backlash from the "parties" that don't like change in the government. They have a name, but I'm not going to get political..lol Anyway, Minister Mitchell wants to kill her so that he can make America Great Again. Sound like anyone we know? So now you see why this film is more than a movie, I think it's a message that someone wanted to put out there before the election. But I'll let you form your own opinions on that matter..once you see the movie;) After Watching, The Purge: Election Year
I thought "The Purge: Election Year" was a timely piece that offered the same gratuitous murder as before with a touch of cheese. Yes, this year's purge was a little cheesy in one scene especially..you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it.
So if you want to see a movie where a fake Donald Trump is trying to kill Hillary Clinton, check out The Purge. -Unhinged Reviews- Looking For More Thriller Reviews? >Click Here<
