Reanimation In The Name Of Science
As we stated up above, "The Lazarus Effect" is ultimately a horror film about reversing the Grand Design. It's a movie showing what can actually happen if we were to "unlock the powers" reserved for only the most divine.
Zoe McConnell(Olivia Wilde) and her team of researchers are a group of educated and possibly too talented scientists on the cusp of a great discovery. They have tirelessly worked at finding a way to prolong the life cycle of the sick and elderly, but somehow along the way they find the powers of resurrection. Blown away by their fortuitous achievement, they push the envelope even further by testing their process on an unexpected volunteer. The science that follows is pure entertainment that reminds us of Peter Filardi's 1990 thriller Flatliners , but with an updated presentation that only the CG of today can provide. Should We Resurrect The Dead?
Now, even with such an enjoyable film as "The Lazarus Effect" providing us with chills and plenty of reasons to hide under the covers. We have to ask ourselves, "Should We Resurrect The Dead"?
Is this even something we want to play with? What really happens when we bring someone back, are they themselves or something else? Plenty of studies and first person recounts tell of a white light or demons and devils poking our souls with sticks, but how do we know for sure? Even more still, how do we know that interrupting the natural order of life doesn't come with serious repercussions? Do you remember that 'Final Destination" movie, where one guy attempted to offset the course of death? And do you remember how well that turned out for him? Well, if you don't, you need to see it..lol Because it didn't turn out too well :p And here we find ourselves, yet again trying to play God. Thinking that maybe this time things will be different. O they are different alright..lol But not in the way scientists would hope for. Not in the way, you or we would hope for. But in the way that it's intended. Scary..Terrifying and Pure Freakin Evil! So.. Who Should Watch This Film?
Well, those that enjoy a little "paranormal" with their "abnormal" would find this film to be of great interest.
And as far as, who would not want to watch this film...Well that would be the people who only watch "G" movies and are 3 feet tall..lol -Unhinged Reviews- If you enjoyed this Unhinged Review of "The Lazarus Effect' , let us know by sharing these words with fellow horror fans across the world.
