![]() "Movies like this remind us of why we go to the theater!" -Unhinged Reviews Yes, good readers of Unhinged Reviews, "Catching Fire" is here! This movie was worth every second of waiting and then some. Jennifer Lawrence rocks us, yet again, in this epic dystopian drama of citizens being thrown into mortal combat under the rule of a merciless government. All your favorites are here, Haymitch(Harrelson), Peeta(Hutcherson) and even new comers such as Plutarch(Hoffman) and Jeffery Wright have joined the cast. We didn't think it could get much better after the first Hunger Games, but it did! Now, let us Unhinge... So in this epic sequel to the first games we find that the dust has settled or so we think. Remember, the wind is calmest in the eye of the storm. Life seems to have returned to normal with daily hunts and animal trapping for Ms. Everdeen, but all is not as it seems. You see when the first games ended, we were giving the inkling that President Snow might not have been so happy with the power play that Katniss and Peeta hatched to win. Well, let's just that he's a little more than upset, he is royally pissed at the hope that the tributes instilled in the surrounding districts. For this reason, he has decided to send Ms. Katniss and Peeta on a world tour, so to speak. A tour that will serve as a testament to the goodwill that Snow has bestowed upon them, in the hopes that this display of mercy will squelch the flames burning within the people. Wrong! Did Snow really think that a good PR campaign is really all he'd need to right the bottomless wrongs he's done to the people of Panem? "If you cut our hands off and then offer us bread, we will try our best to make you choke on your loaf good sir". Well that's just how we feel about it..lol So without giving too much, Snow's feeble ploy to restore peace fails miserably, if it didn't only enrage the people even more. So once again, he must develop another sinister way to oppress the people, as if corporal punishment and public executions weren't enough already. He decides to tap into a darker mindset, a mind that isn't phased by crying or emotion, he summons the game maker himself, Plutarch(Hoffman). Now this guy is one cold cucumber with an iron core and the worst part is...He's only got one desire. To eradicate all traces of hope starting with Katniss. This movie was freaking awesome! It was a fresh coke and a big bag of chips, plus a foot massage in a 5-star hotel. "Catching Fire" will thrill, chill and most importantly make you feel the heat in the hearts of those hoping for a better tomorrow. Jennifer Lawrence could probably retire if she wanted to from all the money this movie will make! The same goes for the rest of the cast, but Katniss is the main attraction here, so we've got our eyes focused on her. Now, with the addition of the new characters, the film's ability to morph into something much bigger than the first came in with the precision of a Ginsu blade. At first, the Hunger Games film appeared to have a lip on it's glass, but after you see this one, you'll realize that the first cup was only a sip. There's gallons more story and battle-worthy Katniss to go around for at least one or two more pitchers of film(lol). So if you haven't gotten out to see this one yet, go see it now, it's freakin awesome!
