![]() "The Host" was an unexpected surprise! When I found out that the movie was to be an epic love story, I expected it to be tailored to the younger audience. Boy was I wrong! This movie had plenty of action without the explosions, as well as, enough grit to satisfy the average male viewer. If Stephenie Meyer keeps writing awesome books of this caliber, we'll have plenty of great films to look forward to in the future. "The Host" is an interesting Sci-Fi film with enough heart to make an alien tear. "The Host" movie, is about a young woman named, Melanie, with a spirit so strong that even an alien invasion can't suppress her mind, body nor soul. Melanie's will is put to the test when an alien named, The Wanderer, enters her body and attempts to utilize her physical form as a vessel to sustain it's life while here on earth. This is when the story gets interesting because even though Melanie's body has become a host to an alien life-form, her mind is as clear is ever. Melanie fights with every ounce of strength she has to convince her alien invader to look at her predicament with a human perspective. Is it possible for aliens to understand human emotions? Watch and find out! Quality film here, if you haven't seen it already go see it! The actors are young up-and-comers, but they definitely embrace their roles and give A+ performances throughout the 2hr journey. Saoirse Ronan stars as both Melanie Stryder and The Wanderer, in this body snatching venture with a heartfelt twist. Along side Melanie, you have the great William Hurt playing as Jeb, as well as Max Irons(Jared) and Jake Abel(Ian) who play as two love interests creating the coveted triangle present in the Twilight Saga. Now, before you go getting all Team Jacob or Team Edward on me, remember this movie is about our bodies being used as hosts for alien invaders. Andrew Niccol did a wonderful job of keeping the film within reach of humanity rather than walking the stratosphere. There's a lot of different directions that this film could have taken, but they kept it within the realm of reason. I feel that this is the one of the reasons such a big Sci-Fi flick is able to be consumed by viewers less keen to the manner in which the stars come to life. The costumes of the aliens weren't over the top and more than likely resemble something that you might see at a high fashion party, chic and simple. Normally with a lot of Sci-Fi films the costumes and special effects can be a distraction to the real story, but in this case "balance" was served on a platter. It will be exciting to find out how well this film does at the box office when all the tickets are tallied. I think a lot of people have yet to see this film because it doesn't have all the hype of "GI Joe" or horror of "Evil Dead", but trust me it is worth your time to watch. So as we bring it to a close, Unhinged Reviews gives "The Host" a big Hell Yeah Go See It before it leaves the theater! You won't be disappointed. Besides, I need you to come back and talk about it so we can Unhinge the highlights.
