Being The Chosen One Has A Price
So, as we've been following Tris in the last few installments of The Divergent Series, we've all seen her grow from a meek nobody to a softer somebody. In Tris's case, soft is a good thing..lol Because we all know she's not a killer by any means.
But, I'm not gonna slam her, I'll let her live and be pure. Now, about this "pure" thing. Okay, so, in Allegiant, Purity is the theme of the day. It's the high point in evolution, it is the blueprint for all future humanity. But, there's only one problem. Tris(Shailene Woodley) is the only pure blood in town..or so it seems... So what this means is that Tris is marked as royalty, for her genetic sequence is held on a high pedestal by one Mr. David, leader of the Genetic Revolt. David(Jeff Daniels) is a man of great power and respect, but his plans for Tris may be a little more than she has bargained for. Can Four save her from herself? Or will David and his vision for a better future pull Tris ever farther away from the truth she's grown to know? Hard Days Are Ahead
Now, while Tris is getting her ego stroked by Mr. David telling her how pure she is, Four is putting in some work. Not that half-assed work Tris is doing, but the real elbow-to-grease, captain save the day kind of work in.
But why? Why is he doing this? Maybe it's because he can see that Tris is too naive to believe that not everyone who smiles is a friend. I mean, I'm all for a character with her head in the clouds, but Tris's head is sitting on Pluto. She doesn't have a clue at all. She's past clueless, she's like someone dragging a boat in the desert- completely delusional and in much need of Four's grounded sensibility. But even with Four's rational state of mind and his innate ability to take down a small army single-handedly, is it enough? Can Four(Theo James) bring Tris back down to reality and save the world at the same time? There's only one way to find out though ;) After Watching Allegiant
I've got to say, I was not jumping around ranting about all the good things I enjoyed in the movie. And yet, I was not walking around yelling about all the problems with the film.
There's a few moments when you know this film is definitely for 13 year olds because the CG is so over the top it's completely unbelievable. It literally looked like a game of Metroid at one point, you know how when Samus was trying to find Mother Brain?..lol Yeah, it wasn't Tris's best hour or her second, but that's it in a nutshell. Watch it in the theater or catch it on Netflix..this one's your call. -Unhinged Reviews- Want To See More Unhinged Fantasy Reviews?
