Brahms Has A Most Unexpected Turn Of Events
So the movie begins, by showing the story of a young woman named Greta arriving to the Heelshire home to serve as a nanny.
At least that's what she thinks, until she gets to the home and realizes that the boy she is supposed to take care of...is really just a doll.
But this is not just any doll... it's the doll of Brahm, an 8-yr old with a most interesting series of habits he that completes when he thinks no one's looking.
The main hook of the story revolves around Greta(Lauren Cohan) trying to determine whether she's losing her mind or remaining completely sane.
Now, speaking as someone whose watched the movie, I've got to say that the doll is just the tip of the iceberg. If you want to know what's underneath that deadlock stare..you'll have to watch the movie;)
The Psychological Horror
You know a movie's good when it has you looking over your shoulder and leaving the lights on, long after you've returned with the popcorn.
The Boy is one of those movies, as the chills are in the moments you find when you think you're ready for truth, but really not..lol
And when they happen, you remember the reasons you fell in love with Horror in the first place. It's exhilarating!
Another aspect I liked about this film, besides the doll factor is the film's simplicity and ability to execute within a limited environment.
You know how a lot of films try to take you to Mars and back when all they need to do is just entertain for a good hour and a half.
"The Boy" does just that and let me be the first to tell you..you have no idea what's at the end of the story.
After Watching, "The Boy"
I've got to tell you, this isn't a bad way to spend 97 minutes of your life. After all, every movie isn't going to be a Marvel: Civil War ;)
But at the same this, this isn't a movie that's going blow you out of your socks..in the beginning.
The Boy is definitely a film to stream or rent from a Redbox near you, if you find yourself with a free Saturday night and nothing to do.
Have you watched, "The Boy"? If so, tell me what you thought of the film in the comments below. Thanks for reading ^_^
