"When it comes to social media, how much is it actually taking over your life? "
Shae-Lee Shackleford illustrates this question in a very practical, yet entertaining sort of way in her short film, "The Anti-Social Network". It's a film about a man who is pretty much like most of the people we know that live and breath through their phones.
You know the type. The person that can't eat a good meal without snapping a photo or the person who can't end a relationship without sending a Facebook Blast. Yeah, that guy..lol

Meet Lucas He's Hooked On Social Media
Lucas(Sam Mac) is the main character within the story and he has a serious problem. His problem is his addiction to Facebook.
Now before you say, "Hey, I'm on Facebook all the time and I'm not addicted", just know that denial is the first step towards recovery..lol
So the film goes on to show how Lucas's obsession with living his life one like at a a time is hindering his ability to enjoy the beauty in front of him. He's literally holding onto his real world connections by the seat of his pants.
His whole day is consumed with "Like this and Like that", until he meets a woman. But this is no ordinary woman...she's the woman that isn't captivated by Facebook's Holy Thumb and she's also the woman he wants.
Can Lucas overcome his social media addiction to have a real life? Or will he be stuck in the matrix forever? To find out, watch the film below.
The Age Of Social Media Is Here...And It's Not Going Anywhere!
Social media is here to stay and at the rate it's trending, the whole world will be connected in no time.
Just take a look at all of the popular news stations with their "Thunderstorms expected this evening, be sure to stay up to date on Twitter". Everywhere you turn there's a new website or a new gadget that replaces the real interactions we used to have with one another.
How many social media apps do you have on your phone now? 1? 2? 10? There's no escaping it, but that doesn't mean we have to let it run our lives.
Remember what's important and take a few moments to unplug every now and again. The very fame and engagement you seek could be right in front of you..but behind your phone.
After Watching, The Anti-Social Network
We were glad that we had the opportunity to view such a timely and reflective piece of cinema. The world needs more films like this to raise awareness and make people think about the repercussions of today's actions.
If we spend all of our time trying to become digital demigods, where will we go when it's all over? Maybe we'll just remain in cyberspace until someone writes the perfect code to give us all a 301 redirect..lol
Be sure to relapse into your social media addiction and share this with a friend..^_^
