![]() "StrangeLand finds horror fans being taken yet again to the extreme in this Piercing tale of flesh and steel" -Unhinged Reviews "StrangeLand" is a '98 horror script from the mind of Dee Snider, who most of us know as the lead singer in Twisted Sister. This film was wild for it's time as body modification was catching fire in the western part of the world, along with the idea of online dating. The key ingredient which made the film a success was taking the two "taboo at the time" concepts and placing them in a carousel of blood, pain and terror. This movie became a cult classic and is still an entertaining watch today, that is for those that can handle a little pain..lol So we've got on our surgical gloves on, shall we Unhinge? So the film begins with two young girls named Genevieve(Cardellini) and Tiana playing on the computer during one night of adolescent curiosity This is nothing uncommon in the age of computers today, but what makes this particular event interesting is that they stumble onto an IM chat with CaptHowdy(Snider). Sounds like a fun name right? Keep reading..lol So the young ladies giggle their way through a chat with CaptHowdy, before he invites them to a party. Nothing better to kill a dull night than getting invited to a party with a total stranger eh? Well, unlike most of us, the youths eagerly make their way to meet this CaptHowdy and strangely for some reason..they never come home! That's odd right, two young girls leave home in the middle of the night to meet some stranger and don't come home? Anywho, after a few hours Gene's father, Mike(Gage), a cop, is beginning to inquire about the whereabouts of his beloved daughter. You've got to appreciate a concerned parent wondering about what his innocent little girl could have gotten herself into, especially since teens do everything their supposed too. It would totally be out the way to even consider that she's in danger, probably just sleeping over at a friend's house right? Well, Gene doesn't come home and she is not at a sleepover, but where is she? All we know at this point is that during one of Mike's long nights of police work he stumbles upon a tortured body and get this...it's Tiana's! This film definitely seems dated to watch it today, but it still has a merit since even with all the safeguards we have in place, people still get lost online. Parents still don't know what their kids are up to and Body Modification is alive and well. Just as fair warning though, we must note that some of the scenes in "StrangeLand" might be a bit much for those who haven't felt a needle outside of a doctor's office. For all those that have, this will just be a walk down the hallway to your favorite Moder's chair when you select your next painful pleasure. Who should see this? All those in search of an entertaining look at the dark-side of online curiosity, plus anyone looking to take their body art to new heights. Is this movie safe for the little ones? Probably not, unless you want your 12yr old coming home with a tattoo from Joe's body art behind the 7 Eleven dumpster..lol You can find this title at your favorite rental shop in the horror section or on Netflix DVD...enjoy!
