![]() Girls Gone Wild? How about Girls Gone Gangsta! "Spring Breakers" is witty 2012 film that blatantly flips the bird to any preconceived notions we have or had about what "Bad Girls" do in Florida. This eye-opening experience follows 4 young ladies on an bikini-clad bender of drugs, alcohol and crime! Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson lead the pack through a sinner's paradise as characters, Candy and Brittany, in this edgy title. So what do most young college girls dream of doing in the spring? If you said "Partying like there's no tomorrow" then you'd only be half right because these girls have a totally different idea of fun. This story begins with 3 party-starters and 1 bible thumper(Gomez), all desperate to fund a spring vacation to the sunny shade of Florida. This is not uncommon, except these troublemakers don't want to wait for the money, they want to take it. Yeah that's right, to fund their trip, they tap their inner "gangsta" to get the paper! And that's not even half the story! Once these 4 innocent angels finally make it to FL, they are sucked into a whirlwind of awesome tunes courtesy of Skrillex and more booze than you can drink in three weeks. With no sober voice of reason to intervene, their alcohol-fueled haze floats their boatload of bad decisions to the concrete shores of jail. So what now? Party's over? Not quite. Because from out of the dust and grime within the city streets they find their salvation in Alien, a gold tooth, gun-toting, flame-spitting gangster from the South. James Franco stars as Alien in this film and let's just say that his character is all the way over the top of the tree-house. We've never seen Franco in this light and we're happy to say, "We are glad he's an actor"! Alien is a smooth-talking dope dealer with guns to spare and more than enough money to free the imprisoned beauties, but can they afford the cost? With all the poor choices they've made this far, what would one more hurt? It's not like anyone's going to get killed, right? This film definitely was not what one would expect by looking at it's cover. You're expecting a wild beach party or a cute comedy, but by the first 2 mins in the film you already know that your in for a ride. So if you have any young ones, you may want to tell them to go in the other room because this movie isn't "High School Musical" or "Another Cinderella Story". Harmony Korine wrote and directed this instant cult-classic that is sure to show you another side of the Sunshine state. So go pick up this title at your favorite indie or nearest Redbox kiosk tonight.
