Is this supposed to be the biggest Bond out yet? Well, I've got to say here at Unhinged Reviews, "Skyfall" came up a little short. Yeah, I know I know, but I was definitely expecting more from Bond seeing as how this is the umpteenth film in the series. This Bond was more story and not enough of the action we've all come to know and love from our favorite double "0". The action didn't even really kick off till the last 30 minutes or so of the movie and it wasn't even all that spectacular. Sure they had spurts of excitement here or there, but nothing to put you on the edge of your seat.
When you've become accustomed to action series such as "Ghost Protocol" or "Jason Bourne", it's a little hard to settle for a pocket pistol and a poker game. Now, we
don't have any hostility towards Daniel Craig, who does the best he can at breathing life into an overexposed franchise, but Zeus himself couldn't put this movie where it needed to be. It just didn't live up to expectations. I don't think it's asking too much when we ask for a "decent body count and a killer plot", is it? If they come out with another Bond anytime soon, they will definitely need to take notes from some of today's action heavyweights.
So, this particular 007 starts off with Bond trying to get a hard-drive from some spy and gets knocked out of the sky by his own team. Now, this is the point when you like oh shiet, here we go! You're ready and primed for some good stimulation, but ultimately your left holding the remote staring at an hour and a half long yawn. "M" gets a little more face time in this film as she yarbles about her mistakes coming back to bite her in the kiester. Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah, bo--ring. I know the movie hit the billion dollar mark(congrats) and they got my 2 cents and some change, but this one just lacked luster.
There's a point when people don't even care what they favorite artist or character says, it's just from them and they automatically love it. Bond films have been around for years and it's almost a duty to see a new film if it comes out. I guess you could say the same thing about Friday The 13th, if they put out another one tomorrow, thousands would go see it with no questions asked. Jason never dies and he always comes back-no surprises there, but people still flock to his films like kids and candy. You become programmed after a while and quality or reasoning go out the window, along with your $7 or $8.50 at the teller window.
The harlots weren't even up to par, as we know that Bond is supposed to get the cream of the best in his films. A ruler has more curves than the ladies picked for his pleasures in this episode, it was truly disheartening to watch. Especially when he knowing slips into the show with a sex slave that has been in the biz since 14 yrs old. I mean come on Bond, 'Have some freakin scruples about you, some type of standards". It's almost like 007 doesn't even care anymore, gone are the days of "Pussy Galore" and "Dr. Holly Goodhead".
I'm going to simply put it like this, if you had a choice between "Skyfall" and "Hangmen", see "Skyfall". Now, if it's a choice between "Skyfall" and "Ghost Protocol', the sky won't fall, go see "Ghost Protocol". I'm hoping for more out of the next Bond film because he seems a little tired in his old age, maybe he needs to trade in his trademark Walter PPK for a Glock 40! Bring some action and excitement to his early days of retirement. And also let's make sure the next set of Bond ladies actually have some charisma, sparkle, pop or something that makes them official.
