Seventh Son - The Movie "Seventh Son' is a film about a young man named Tom Ward accepting his place in the world as a Spook. Now you're probably thinking, "What is a Spook exactly?". Well, a Spook is basically an ancient warrior that kills witches and keeps the world safe from the darkest of threats. Think of "The Exorcist", except with pretty witches rather than projectile vomiting demons. The film starts off showing that the life of a Spook is a treacherous one which could easily end at the drop of a hat. So it's no wonder Tom(Barnes) was skeptical when he was approached by John Gregory(Daniels),a Spook about becoming his apprentice. But even as curious as he was, Tom knew one day he would be called to something "out of the ordinary". Maybe it had something to do with the visions that he has, but you'll find out once you watch the film. So to give you a little more without giving it away, let's just say John and Tom embark on a journey to kill an evil that threatens to unleash hell on all of mankind. Oddly enough, this hell comes in the form of one witch named Mother Malkin(Moore) and her band of faithful followers waiting for the Blood Moon. Now, if you've seen enough fantasy films before, you know that there's always some sort of epic event that threatens to give those most evil, unlimited power. So with that knowledge in hand, it's up to John and Tom to stop Mother Malkin from basking in the glow of her Red Moon. But it won't be an easy feat, not in the slightest. Maybe it has something to do with a mysterious stranger that Tom saw in his dreams long before he even thought of becoming a Spook's apprentice. Love And Magic Now when you watch this film, you can't help but see some similarities between Mother Malkin and Maleficent. You have watched Maleficent haven't you? Well for those of you that haven't, below you'll find our Unhinged Review of the film to catch you up to speed a bit. Now for those that have seen it, let's proceed. In comparing Mother Malkin's desire to be loved and Maleficent's troubled story of a woman scorned, it's pretty obvious that a bad relationship can turn a beautiful woman into a real Witch..lol But the good thing is not all witches are the same, you sort of have to take the good witches with the bad. So one might ask where does Alice whose also another witch in Seventh Son fit into all this? Let's just say, Alice's connection to the Spook and his apprentice is something that holds the key to the mystery of the Seventh Son. After Watching, Seventh Son We were left with an empty tub of popcorn and smiles all around. You see "Seventh Son" isn't a film that set out to be the next Lord Of The Rings, it wasn't even looking to be the next Willow.
