What Do You Believe?
"Regression" begins by painting the illusion of a quiet town with nothing more than a Saturday night brawl being the height of criminal excitement.
So, you can see the reason that a man charging into the police station turning himself in for a gruesome rape proves to be rather shocking for Detective Kenner(Hawke).
As, a detective, one must first prove that an actual crime has been committed, as well as, find evidence to support such a horrendous truth.
But who in there right mind would claim to commit a crime that they don't quite actually remember? Hmm, the questions..the questions.
It's going to take all of Kenner's experience to pull the truth out of this puzzle, especially since it's motivation is of a Satanic origin.
You know the usual: black cats, cloaked satanists and ritualistic murder.
The only question is.. Can Kenner handle such a twisted case without losing his own mind in the process?
When The Facts Don't Add Up?
There she is... Ms. Angela Gray(Watson).
She looks rather innocent doesn't she? Looks like the typical victim that would report she's been brutalized by the most evil of men.
But even as much as we you want to believe her, you have to look at all the facts.
Who raped her? Why did they rape her? And even still when you hear her stories of pure terror and horror, somewhere in the back of your mind you wonder.."Is this even possible?".
It's almost a little too unimaginable to think that this poor innocent woman would be ravaged by a man possessed by a demonic force. But then again, when you hear his story and the stories of many others corroborating her truth, things seem a bit more realistic.
Even still, no one wants to believe it. No one. Not the pastor. Not the detective and especially not the media. Because if they did... then that would mean that a Satanic Cult is living amongst them.
After Watching, Regression...
I've got to say it was a good time. There's a decent medley of deliciously grim details of horrific acts balanced over acute speculation while served with a side of viewer curiosity.
This is one of those movies where you don't really know what to believe, until you watch it all unfold before your eyes. Enjoy.
