![]() "Sometimes love is the only thing standing between you and a date with destiny" -Unhinged Reviews "Pompeii 3D" is one of those films that reminds us all to cherish what we have, while we have it. Think back to the last time you took something for granted and now imagine it vanishing in the blink of an eye. How do you feel? Now imagine that same feeling, but with the difference of instead of only having one thing to disappear, it's your entire world. Scary right? Well for one such Milo, tragedy doesn't come as a surprise, but more so as a testament to his plight. "Pompeii 3D" is an interesting film showing what life may have been like a few years before "The Great Mountain" exhaled and engulfed it's unsuspecting inhabitants inhabitants . Now, let's Unhinge... To start, the cast of "Pompeii 3D" is an unlikely mesh of actors ranging from well known film stars to budding television sensations. Just look at the main character, Kit Harington(Milo) whose most known for his work in Game Of Thrones and then look at Sutherland(Corvus) whose been in more films than we dare to count. This blending of the two backgrounds gives viewers a well rounded dish serving up familiar treats, along a few new entrees. However, this wasn't the only aspect of the film worth discussing because the volcano itself is the biggest star of the whole film! Now how is this you ask? Well, look at it like this, without a volcano there wouldn't be a movie worthy of ticket sales. If there was no volcano, you would have had a bunch of gladiators and Roman rule without anything to separate the film from the rest of the 100 gladiator-esque films already saturating the Walmart thrift bins. The placement of one of the most undeniable forces within our planet catapults this film into a class of it's own and that's a good thing. We've already seen "Troy" and "Gladiator", we didn't need to see the wheel turn again. So what's the movie about? Well, the film is about a boy named Milo that grows up in slavery with only whispers of his family clinging to the threads of his mind. He fights everyday for survival, in the hopes that one day, he will seek avenge for a wrong that so many of his people endured while he was just a boy. That's a lot of angst to grow up with if you ask us, but Milo makes the most of it and uses that stored aggression to make sure that he doesn't loose any teeth in the pits. Yeah, that's right, Milo is a gladiator and a damn fine one if we may say so. He's nibble on his feet and even quicker with his hands. He's had a long time to learn the roots of survival and it's a good thing because without his insight there's no way he would have caught the eye of Graceus, a greedy fight promoter looking to score a quick buck. So with his attention captured and being marked as a premiered fighter, Milo is chosen to be a flagship for his slave owner's line of entertainment, but somehow, he also catches the eyes of a beautiful young woman named Cassia(Browning). Their chemistry is instant and it's at this moment, he realizes that there is still beauty in the world, but will it be enough to save him from destiny? "Pompeii 3D" is an entertaining watch for it's visual effects, as well as, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's fierce performance as Atticus, a passionate warrior that is also chasing freedom through the defeat of his opponents. As we stated above, this film is full of familiar faces, but it's the beauty of the tragic history that compels you to embrace the fire of Pompeii.
