![]() Jason Statham is back with another action hit in "Parker". This go round he plays a expert thief with a high set of principles and low tolerance for those who choose to do the wrong thing. It's kinda funny when you think about it, a thief with principles, but anyhow Parker is a force to be reckoned with if your on the wrong side of his wrath. Statham stars along with Jennifer Lopez a.k.a J.Lo in this sleeper action hit that is sure to leave you ready for more explosive gun-totin action in his next hit. With no further delay, let's crack this baby open. "Parker" starts out with a well coordinated robbery at a community event that was sure to bring in a lot of money. Everything would have been fine, if Parker didn't have to work with a bunch of unknowns with plans of their own. The robbery goes off without a hitch and would've been an open and shut case, but the crew decides that they want to use Parker's share of the fortune to fund another robbery. Parker being a man with high principles politely declines, but some people just don't know how to take "No" for an answer. So with Parker refusing their offer they decide to make the ultimate mistake. Something I'm finding interesting about Statham's films is that he almost always plays the same guy..lol. You already know what to expect from one of his movies, he's going to be the die-hard with an extraordinary set of skills that just can't be denied. You're going to get murder and mayhem anytime he gets behind the camera, just like in "Blitz" , but that's okay with us. One of the favorable things about this film is that amongst the bullet-fire we get to spend time with the lovely, J.Lo who plays Leslie, a sexy and "very broke" real estate agent looking for a way out. I've just got to say that Statham is one lucky man to have landed this role because Leslie has a thing for Parker, but you didn't hear that from me. A few familiar faces pop up in "Parker" like Chiklis from "The Shield" and Bunk, I mean Pierce from "The Wire". You know, Chiklis is also another good one for playing those gritty "Don't give a hoot" muscle men, even in Fantastic Four he was the brolic "Thing". Plenty of action swirling around in this film and some interesting heists to boot, you have to wonder if some of today's crimes are inspired by action flicks such as these. Nolte, another cast member is always a pleasure to experience on the big screen as he has that gruff voice that just permeates "hard times" and whiskey which gives value to his characters. Now, as I mentioned up above, J.Lo is also gracing this movie as a financially starved real estate agent named Leslie. It's not often that J.Lo gets quality roles these days since they can't really market her as a sex symbol to the masses, but I must say she is aging quite well. Her character, Leslie is observant and an adventurous risk-taker that stumbles onto some plans that put her in close quarters with Mr. Parker. The combination of these two puts you in the mind of "Rush Hour", except that Chris Tucker would be a smoking hot lady with assets instead of jokes. As for her overall performance in the film, I'd say that she did well to give us something to enjoy while Statham reloaded his gun. A great quote from the movie came from "Parker" when he says "We got work to do, Leslie". This couldn't have come at a better time, for "Parker' that is because during that scene most would have said plenty of other things. This line added to seriousness of his plight to just be so ridged and inflexible with temptation trailing along behind him as he navigates his way through the movie. I imagine for a second you thought I was going to tell you what he was up to, didn't you? You've got to watch the film for that. I'm not one that's big on giving too much of the film away, if you haven't noticed yet from some of the other reviews. "Parker"'s a decent action film with some vendettas and several broken bones to spare, but it's Statham so what do you expect. The movie hosts some unique combat sequences that I'm sure any UFC fighter would love to demonstrate in their next match, hopefully without getting eliminated or even banned from the event. There's not really too much more to say about the film, but if your looking for some quality action, "Parker" is your man.
