Well, what if you break and shatter before the mirror's image" -Unhinged Reviews Well, well well, looks like we have a bit of a psychological thriller on our hands this month. "Oculus" is one of those movies that keeps the mind active, keeps you wondering what's next and ultimately keeps you thirsting for the next shock to come! We went to watch this movie over the weekend release and we've got to say..the wait was well worth it. Plenty of suspense, plenty of action and some interesting camera work to keep your eyes cemented to everything that is "Oculus". Brothers and sisters, it's time to Unhinge! Okay, before we even get into this one, we've got to just put it out there. "Hey Flanagan, did the 4-11-14 release have anything to do with Sibling day on the 10th?" Just asking;) Either way, we're happy that you put this movie out because there are a few of us that still enjoy watching quality film with our "first friends". Did anyone else go to the movies with their favorite bro or sis over the weekend? Alright, back to the reasons we're all here, "Oculus" what is it? Is it a movie about a series of unfortunate events that occur to one family that decided to bring a tainted looking-glass into their home? Or, is it film is about a shared psychosis between a brother and sister which unravels into one of the most "off the rocker" horrors to hit the BIG screen in a long time! You decide... So the film begins by introducing us to Kaylie(Gillan) and Tim(Thwaites) Russell, a brother and sister who are reunited after enduring years of an unscheduled separation. We're sure the separation came as a surprise to both because Tim wasn't at grandma's house for 11yrs, he was in the warm confines of a mental hospital. Now, nothing's wrong with taking a breather, but 11yrs? Something serious had to have happened to Tim in his youth to have caused this unjust separation, but what was it? Well, we can tell you that it involves a mirror, but this isn't just any old mirror. It's the mirror of mirrors, a mirror of horrors, it's a mirror that looks back at the beholder. It's a mirror that is capable of ...(lost transmission) Sorry about that folks, we are experiencing some technical difficulties that will not allow us to spoil the movie for you. We do apologize, but we will make it up to you by telling you four reasons to see this film! Reason 1 "Oculus" is a movie that peaks your curiosity. You will have questions with questions and the answers you find will be worth the brain cells twisted throughout the intriguing experience. Reason 2 "Oculus" is the perfect brother/sister horror-drama, you would be hard pressed to find a movie that reminds you of time when your active imagination could outrun your sib's logic. Reason 3 Annalise Basso and Garrett Ryan bring the thunder as pint-sized versions of Kaylie and Tim Russell. It's always to good to see young actors/actresses cutting their teeth in quality roles. Reason 4 It's a good freaking movie! (lol..(had to do it) And there you have it, what more reason do you need to see this film?
