![]() If you want an epic movie experience then look no further than "Now You See Me"! This is a film that's full of suspense, mystery, tons of action and is ultimately a magic show on the big screen. I personally enjoyed every second of it, especially with my in-depth knowledge of the detachable thumb trick we all saw in elementary school a time or 2..lol Leterrier, the director, picked another good film to get behind because this film kicks arse in every direction with 9-inch spikes and an attitude to boot. Let's open up Pandora's box and see what's inside. To start, you have an all-star cast consisting of old and new blood, grinders such as Harrelson and Ruffalo bringing that expertise, while newbies such as Eisenberg and Franco bring up the rear. Then there's the lovely, Isla Fisher and Melanie Laurent adding their feminine genius to the party which makes for a well rounded serving of magical wonderment. There are a few more notable mentions within the cast, but I will let you discover those characters when you watch the film for yourself. It would seem foreign to even discuss the plot of this film without first talking a little about Magic itself as a whole. Magic as we know is something that has captivated minds for many many years, due to a magician's mastery of illusions and ever-growing understanding of deductive reasoning. The more skilled the magician, the better the trick and the better the illusion, the better off you'll be for having experienced it. This is the mindset one must have when viewing displays of magical prowess. You don't want to go to a magic show or view a trick with a sourpuss and an unnerving scowl that would make a snake turn up it's nose. So what is Magic? It's sleight of the hands, it's a now you see it now you don't. It's an awesome feeling for the viewer to experience and I'm sure it's a power curl for the magician. Magic is something that can't be put into words per say, but it's more of a feeling when you see it happen. That statement brings us to "Now You See Me" which is quite simply a mind-expanding emotional outburst of wonderment and Epic Awesomeness! The movie begins with 4 students of the arts being handpicked to join a secret society of magicians known as "The Eye" . In order to qualify for "The Eye" they must all work together to perform some of the greatest magic tricks in cinema history before they can be accepted. I won't go into each of the 4, but I will share at least two to wet your appetite just a taste. For one, there's Jack Wilder(Dave Franco), a top level pickpocket with an unearthly sleight of hand that could take the wool off of a sheep without out it even noticing. And for two we have, Merrit McKinney(Woody) who is a mentalist with a PhD in hypnosis that is sure to have you on the edge of your seat when performing his feats. Now along the way after the 4 a.k.a "Four Horsemen" have been picked, some of their high-profile illusions capture the attention of the PD, Interpol and a peculiar debunk-er of the truth named Thaddeus(Freeman). Together, these skeptics make it their blood oath to catch these magicians in the "Act" of committing incredible illusions that somehow end up dropping millions into the arms of their fans. The biggest problem with that is that in order to say that a crime has been committed you need to have proof beyond the shadow of a doubt. How is this possible when your prime suspects are magicians with unparalleled skill and ability? Can the skeptics unravel the mystery before the "Four Horsemen" perform their biggest illusion to date? That's basically what the movies about, a group of top level magicians being chased by a band of skeptics or haters for that matter. And what a chase it is, I'm talking jaw-dropping moments for days that will have you clapping in the theater...lol. There's nothing better than a movie that truly makes you feel as though you've actually been somewhere. In, "Now You See Me", I felt that I went somewhere, I believe I went to one of the greatest magic shows on earth. So what are you waiting for? Go see it A.S.A.P! In closing this review, I'm going to recommend that lovers of magic and even skeptics go see this one at your local theater to have a wonderful soak in the world of illusion.
