  "Maria Full Of Grace" is an absolute pleasure to watch!  It's a film about a young woman's search to find a different kind of life outside of all she's ever known.  Catalina Moreno stars as the lead, María, in this foreign treat which is sure to remind us of just how fortunate we are to be in the U.S.  It's easy to forget that something as simple as changing jobs or living on our own is a luxury that some can't afford.  María is one of those few that challenge life inside the box, she wants to breakout.  And so, now, it's time to Unhinge her story...

  If you're one of those folks that shy away from a foreign film because it's in subtitles, we urge you to put in the effort.  We can't tell you how many quality movies are out there just waiting to be experienced, so don't let a little read-along scrolled across the bottom discourage you from some amazing stories.  "María Full Of Grace" is one of those titles and once again we were pleased with our adventure.

  The film begins, by showing Maria doing her best to provide for her family which includes giving her entire paycheck to several adults capable of earning their own income.  This is something that is common in many homes, but you will find this sort of behavior predominantly in communities where opportunities are far and few between.  So, María, the lead, goes in day in and day out to a job that she doesn't much care for to support family, until one day she hits her wall.  Some of you out there may have seen this wall before, it's the wall where you see just how boring your life will be if you don't make a change.

 A change for the good is what most search for, but sometimes we change for the worst. María's change teeters on the line in question for quite sometime, but then again, this is a movie(lol).  She's also got a couple of additional irons in the fire which are prompting this change such as a loser boyfriend that is happy with his complacent existence, plus her dreams of being financially healthy.  Notice we said, "Healthy" not "Wealthy", those are two very different things, but we can save that for another conversation.   

  Anyway, somehow along her quest, she encounters a man who propositions her with an opportunity to change her life overnight!  People, if anyone ever offers you a get rich quick scheme, beware of the thorns!  Okay, back to the story.  So, María, not hearing our warning, is very much intrigued by this man's offer to change her destiny almost immediately.  So what does she do?  María decides to ...  Oh, did you want to know?  Got to watch the movie =)

  This movie has a lot of great scenes and interesting conflicts that occur between María and the characters around her, especially Lucy's sister.  The events that unfold between those two are very intimate and their interactions add a lot of deeper meaning to the film.  When you see it, you'll know just what we're talking about.  So whose Lucy?  Oh, Lucy's just a drug smuggler that's in over her head or did we forget to mention that? *sinister smile*

  So do we recommend? Yes, this film is quality and was quite an unexpected surprise.  Who will enjoy this?  Anyone that's open to subtitles and enjoys a female lead in their film.  It's a drama with an edge, but an edge with purpose and determination.  

  With that said, If your looking for something good to watch that isn't all guns and gore, pick this one up at your favorite rental spot.  Enjoy!
