![]() "Pushing past one's limits can help you to reach new heights, but by the strength of your brothers, you just might live to tell the story" -Unhinged Reviews "Lone Survivor" is truly a remarkable account of the heroic acts of bravery several men displayed during the course of Operation Red Wings. This film is well-crafted and you can't help, but feel the strength of many which allowed one to survive insurmountable odds. Mark Wahlberg stars as Marcus Luttrell, the lone wolf who survived heavy gunfire in hostel terrain to tell the story of the events that he and his brothers endured within Afghanistan during their pursuit of Ahmad Shah. Bring an extra clip, it's time to Unhinge! From the moment the movie comes on, you are immersed in the world of the Navy Seal and get a brief glimpse at some of what it actually takes to even dream of holding such an honored title. These men willingly go through hardships that some of us wouldn't even fathom, for example, would you sit in freezing water all night? If you're like us, then probably not, but that's why we're not Navy Seals. It takes something unique, almost primal if you will, to truly step into the shoes of one of our country's greatest warriors. So, we're just going to start by saying, "Hats Off" to any of our soldiers that have the guts to go beyond the limits of the human body, mind and spirit. Once the movie truly digs into the meat, you will notice that the sound has been optimized, so that the viewer hears the most subtle of sounds. Noises like gravel beneath feet and even breathing are vital to placing us inside the film and getting ever closer to the keen senses our warriors have within. This aspect of the production is one of the things that we noticed first and it quickly put us in the fire, as we experienced warfare behind the safety of the big screen. As the story moves on you get a little background into the lives of each of the four men who were also key players in making this inspiring and very much heroic story what it is today. The brothers alongside Wahlberg(Luttrell) are played by Taylor Kitsch(Michael Murphy), Emile Hirsch, (Danny Dietz) and Ben Foster (Matt Axelson). Let us just say that these actors all gave amazing performances and conveyed the sense of duty and knowledge of skill required to provide us a memorable experience. We're sure the actual Seals did so much more because they were there, but this is as close as we can get to the real thing. So, in not wanting to give too much, we'll tell you that once Operation Red Wings is in full bloom and our men are on the ground, it's the real deal! There's no turning back for our soldiers, as they are in hot pursuit of Ahmad Shah, a terrorist responsible for many cruel acts and in need of immediate termination. Our boys sure give him a run for the money! (Way to Go U.S.A!) Moving further into the plot, our small team of four seals digs in deep, after spotting the six-headed beast and waits for further instruction. While they are waiting, a group of locals comes across their path and poses a serious problem. This problem is not one of violence, but of choice. Do we kill them? or Let them live? Now that's a difficult choice to make because it's not the Seals objective to kill innocent civilians, but to protect them from dangers within their own backyard. This compromise is what altered the story of our four heroes and called upon them to invoke the mystic and very much supernatural expert skill of the Navy Seal. We've got to tell you that some of the feats you see these four men perform in this movie are nothing short of Mind Blowing! Any one of us untrained civilians, would have been dead within minutes, but these guys are a true testament to the warrior spirit. When you watch this film, you are engaged, all the way! There's no running to the bathroom or refilling the popcorn bucket, you are locked and loaded! "Lone Survivor" is definitely a story of courage, honor and a deep brotherhood that keeps all of us safe from hostile threats. Mark Wahlberg's performance delivers that "Grand Slam" we knew he would, but this movie isn't about the actors. It's about the story of the four men who faced perilous terrain and rose to the occasion...
