So What Is "Jupiter Ascending" ? "Jupiter Ascending" at first glance is a mesh of Cinderella and Star Wars, but on closer inspection it's a well played story of self-discovery and destiny. At the beginning of the film, Jupiter(Kunis) is a young woman that spends the better part of her days cleaning toilets and removing filth. She literally hates her job and can't seem to find a way out of her predicament. Jupiter aspires for something greater, but financial constraints keep her close to home where she must fit in with the family model. You know how you always have that cousin with the brilliant, but wacky idea of making money that only benefits them. Or the overwhelming feeling of guilt that keeps you from leaving the family business to pursue your own dreams? It sucks to be Jupiter, but that all changes the moment she meets Caine(Tatum), a rogue military hunter with unearthly genetic enhancements. Caine contacts Jupiter with only one purpose. And what's that? Well, it's to keep her alive and out of danger's hands. Except in this case, the hands of danger come in the form of a sophisticated alien society with endless wealth and military weaponry. But what would a group of aliens with unlimited resources want from an earth girl named Jupiter? It seems like Jupiter's place in the world was not to be a maid, but something much greater. Is 3D Worth The Price? Now when it comes to deciding if you should watch this film in 2D or 3D, it's a no-brainer with this one. The main reason for choosing 3D is that this has got to be the closest 3D experience to the mind-blowing visuals we cherished in Avatar! And if you're like us, we know you've been burned by the last few films that promised a stellar 3D experience, only to receive sub-par results. Well this time, the extra 7.50 is worth the price! But think about it, would you expect anything less from the Wachowskis? They literally wrote the screenplay for The Matrix which just happens to be one of the greatest films of all time. To put it even better, a story like "Jupiter Ascending" wouldn't even get off the ground if the visuals we'rent top of the line. How could one even think filming a story about aliens, interplanetary battles and massive explosions in 2015, if the graphics didn't grab our attention from start? All we want to say additional about the graphics is wait until you see Caine's footwear, it's out of this world ;) After Watching, "Jupiter Ascending"... We've got to admit, it was a good time. We didn't go into this film expecting to have some Out Of Body experience or watch the movie of the year. We simply went to be entertained and that's what going to the movies is all about. If you want to be enlightened, then you watch a documentary, but if you want a Sci-Fi experience with aliens and awesome 3D action, you watch "Jupiter Ascending".
