![]() "Giving birth to a child is hard enough, but staying alive long enough to do it is a different matter all together" -Unhinged Reviews "Inside" is proof that French-Horror will never be the same! Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo cranked out this gorrific story of a woman's struggle to save her baby from the arms of a raving lunatic, all while trapped inside her home. We've gotta warn ya now, this movie has more blood than the human body can even hold! We're talking like tsunami-type biblical proportions! There is no amount of gauze or even sutures that could even remotely come close to stitching up this gusher. Let's Unhinge this first French feature "À L' INTÉRIEUR". So to kick things off, this movie begins with a collision of sorts that causes a young pregnant couple to be reduced to one single and utterly depressed mother with a baby on the way. This is fine, this is tragic, but normal. Nothing too moving there, in terms of horror. Now, this young woman, Sarah(Paradis) scrapes what little bit of joy she can muster in the world to do her best at maintaining, besides she's still got a baby to birth, right? So, while she is moping about in her pity party, she alienates herself from the only sources of comfort that she has left which include her mom and her work. Her work is photography which is an obvious passion of hers, but even this provides little relief to her recent loss of her "Baby Daddy" for lack of a better term. Now, with her unborn child's father M.I.A, as a result of unavoidable events she plans to go on a photo shoot with her boss, after he goads her into a halfhearted commitment to work. While prepping for work she gets a mysterious knock at her door from a creepy woman who wishes to come into her home. Okay, first flag! Creepy woman smoking a cigarette wants to come into your home in the middle of the night. What do you tell her? Um, how about, No! That's what most of us would say and this is what she tries to do, but unfortunately her argument isn't convincing enough. This woman somehow manages to find her way into Sarah's home and this is where the real party begins. This creepy cigarette smoking, black dress wearing woman is on her case from jump! She is relentless and all she wants is one teeny tiny thing. Can you guess what it is? If you said, "Her picture taken" you need to leave this site immediately..lol No, just kidding! She wants her unborn child, but the only problem is, she's not even close to labor! So what's Sarah to do? There's a woman in her home with serious intentions on stealing her unborn baby that is still very much attached to the insides of her...stomach. Well, on one hand she could run and hope to get away or she could fight and try to survive. "Inside" is one of those dark films that has intimate horror and very little empathy for those with a soft heart, after all this is horror! You want to see blood, well in this film you get tons of it! Boatloads of plasma on the floor, on the walls, it's everywhere that is anywhere..lol Can you handle it? The last thought we want to throw in is that the film does get under your skin a bit. There are moments when you may scream at the tv or throw popcorn, but if you watch the behind the scenes footage in the extras you can appreciate the work even more. Watching all of the effort this crew put into the film definitely made up for any "WTF" moments that were had while watching "Inside". Enjoy!
