Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures
"In The Heart Of The Sea" isn't a film that relies solely on a gargantuan whale capsizing a boat to fill theater seats. Nope, that would be too much repetition in a story that's already been told multiple times.
In this particular version of the tale, the Mighty Thor a.k.a Chris Hemsworth takes the reigns in the lead role as Owen Chase. Now, we can all be sure that the original Owen did not have Hemsworth's lush golden locks or a mighty war hammer stashed away in the Avenger Headquaters.
Just this cast selection alone, draws in audiences that normally would have passed on a story about a whaler. Besides, killing whales is something most civilizations have moved away from, as we've found other means to acquire oily resources and such.
However, with all that aside, "In The Heart Of The Sea" does provide some decent CG effects, along with favorable performances from talents such as Cillian Murphy and Benjamin Walker.
Now you may ask, "Why did they not talk more about the movie"..well that's because the best depths of Moby Dick will always be found in the original book.
There Will Be Blood
"Ahoy Mate", you've got a bit of blood on your face just there yea"
But he doesn't care, he's far from it. Do you see the look of intensity in his eyes? That is what desperation and determination look like.
If you put a man's back against the wall and give him a sharp spear, ugly things can happen. Now, if you take that same man and strip him of his resources..a lot of bad things can and will happen again.
The crew of the Essex is tested all throughout the film, for their diligence, patience and will to survive.
Ideally, a whaler's dream is to fill hundreds of drums with pounds of rich blubber, but for some reason, Moby Dick doesn't like the idea much.
To see what Moby does to Owen and the crew of the Essex..you'll have to watch the film.
After Watching, "In The Heart Of The Sea"...
You will be left with a warm mirthful tingly feeling that will have you thanking yourself that you decided to give this film a shot.
One thing about, "In The Heart Of The Sea" that you must understand is..This movie isn't film of the year or even a second close. But what it is..is entertainment and an opportunity to watch one of the classics reshaped in Hemsworthy form.
Have you watched it yet?
