![]() "When earth was attacked by an unstoppable force, he came up from the depths to neutralize the enemy" -Unhinged Reviews "Godzilla 2014" has finally landed it's colossal footprint on the big screen! Talk about HUGE! Godzilla was hitting biblical proportions as he sauntered his luscious tail across the entire country. Can we even conceive how big something or someone would have to be to cruise the entire planet without batting as much as a scaly eyelash? What if there was actually something that big lurking in the depths? We'll, ponder all that an more in our review of "Godzilla 2014"! Now..Let's Unhinge this puppy! So before we even dig into this Scaly Titan, we've got to say something about the steps Godzilla has taken to get to this point. Let's see, he's been in how many films? We're just going to say over 25 and we're sure there's even more, but you get the point. We said all that to say that this "Godzilla 2014" has been a long time coming and we're glad it's finally here! A lot of the earlier Godzilla films we're kind of choppy and amateurish if you will, meaning that it wasn't anywhere close to being believable. No, we're not saying we believe that Godzilla is lurking in the Pacific Ocean, but what we are saying is that Edwards did an excellent job with this one. Whenever you're dealing with creature features you have to be careful to make the story so compelling that the big rubber suit or miniature model you have isn't the focus. You've got to take people's eyes off of the details and allow them to get lost in the story. Just think back to the last man in a frog suit that jumped out of the water in one of those "C" movies. Didn't watch it long did you? Well if you did your a trooper, but the reason we didn't was because it just wasn't believable. One movie that comes to mind when you think of creatures done right is "Signs". Do you remember how they didn't show the alien in all it's glory until the end? Shock value for a few seconds and then it was over, but you had this long build-up just like in "Godzilla 2014". They don't just go knee-deep without the proper strokes, they worked us over into a soupy lather before they set the hook! We're not saying that "That's how you have to do it", but it's appreciated when you keep a little mystique behind the curtain until the audience is ready. So now that you have a deeper understanding of how we viewed "Godzilla 2014" going in, maybe now you're ready for our account of the epic goodness. Okay, so Bryan Cranston plays this guy, "Joe Brody" whose all into his studies of some seismic activity beneath the earth's surface. The main reason he's totally enthralled is because he feels it's responsible for a megaton explosion occurring within his power plant that took a few of his most prized possessions several years ago. Fast-forwarding fifteen years later, Joe's son, Ford Brody has become an expert at disposing explosives and he gives the ol' man a visit. The initial reason he is visiting his dad is because Joe is still getting into trouble for sticking his nose in places it doesn't belong. Go Figure. Well, this time when Ford goes to get his dad out of yet another jam, he decides to tag along and see what it's all about. We bet he's thinking, "Why did I do that?". Hindsight's always 20/20 in most cases, but we wouldn't have had this movie to enjoy if he allowed his dad to go off on his own. So, to get to the meat of the matter, the son follows his dad back to the wreckage of the plant explosion which occurred some fifteen years ago and gets caught up in some Godzilla goodness..lol The two Brodys feast their eyes on some top-secret operation which goes horribly awry and all Hades breaks loose! We're talking people screaming, men running everywhere and we could have sworn there was a baby crying in the background. "Wait, maybe that was just in the theater", but anyway, pandemonium reigned supreme and that officially released the Kraken! Oops wrong movie, we meant to say, "Awakened Godzilla" from the depths of the abyss. Now, we're not going to give you all the specifics of the Humongous lizard, but we will tell you that this joker is off the charts! He's like Skyscraper tall, if not bigger and believe it or not, "He's on our side"! Just imagine, if the aliens finally do come and try to pull some "Independence Day" on us and this Titanic Green Leaping Lord Of The Lizards jumps out of the earth's bath and eradicates all hostile threats. Now, that would be a moment worth writing in the history books! So, to wrap this up because we could gush and speculate all day, we'll say that "Godzilla 2014" is a movie worth watching for three reasons. The first reason is that it's "Godzilla 2014" and the second is it's "Godzilla" and the third is "Why the hell not?". We hope you enjoyed this Unhinged Review of "Godzilla 2014" and would love to hear your thoughts about the film or review. Also, please share this with others, so that they too can get in on the excitement! -Unhinged Reviews- Titles Of Impending World Domination: G.I Joe:Retaliation | World War Z | Man Of Steel
