![]() What happens when you take a call from a random stranger? Well, that's what Davy Mitchell finds out when he takes an unexpected call from a mysterious woman named Nicole, that flips his quiet world upside down. "Easier with Practice" is an exceptional indie film from Kyle Alvarez that shows just how far some are willing to go to avoid being alone. The film follows Davy, a shy writer of short-stories, through a series of passionate phone calls with his woman of mystery. All goes well it would seem, until Davy's curiosity gets the best of him and requests a meeting face to face. Now, Davy isn't by any means a "ladie's man" so to speak, but he's honest, loyal and always up for a good chat from his mysterious phone caller. Davy met Nicole in a chance happening phone call one night and based off their steamy convo, he feverishly waits by the phone anticipating her next ring. During the in between time of phone calls from his seductive caller, Davy must carry on about business as usual. This means that he must complete his stateside book tour, work his current temp desk job and keep his *sshole brother in check until his next chat with the seductive, Nicole. Seems easy enough to manage, but for Davy this only makes him want to be with her more and more. Nicole, on the other hand, keeps Davy at bay, by continually making up excuses as to why she can't meet with him. She even goes as far to refuse giving him her number and this means that unless she calls him their passionate conversations end. Nicole is very careful with what she will and won't talk about with Davy, as his pecks and prods for information about her become more direct during each conversation. Nicole only tells him what he needs to know and when he becomes to focused on what she won't say, Nicole redirects his frustration with a few steamy words to melt away his distress. After a while, it becomes apparent that Nicole has grown feelings for Davy, as well, but will they be strong enough to finally convince her to meet with Davy in person. Kyle Alvarz did a great job with this film, it has an attractive story-line that is easy to follow and has a few quality distractions thrown in to maintain the buoyancy of the film. The subject matter of the film, I believe almost anyone can identify with if they have ever enjoyed a spicy convo from their partner or person of interest. I myself remember receiving a call or two that definitely had my heart pounding even after hanging up the receiver, so you'll definitely get an idea of how Davy feels when Nicole calls. Now, the content in the film can be mature at times, but is well within the context of the overall picture. Unhinged Reviews recommends this quality indie film for anyone that enjoys a little hot sauce in their soup or a shocking turn near the end of their movie. Enjoy!
