![]() "McConaughey and Leto's performances are powerfully captivating, it's no wonder they won Academy Awards!" -Unhinged Reviews "Dallas Buyers Club" is the movie to see if you haven't watched it already! McConaughey gives Ron Woodruff's story life, as he portrays a man who had to lose it all, before finding his greater purpose. This film was inspired by true events and it should remind us all to be extra careful when it comes to that "bare-skinned' intimacy. The acceptance of this film's content is world-wide, as most of us know or have known someone going through a similar hardship. So let's dig in, as we Unhinge... The film begins by showing a man named Ron Woodruff(McConaughey), as a free-spirited rodeo rider that has the world in his palm and too many women at his finger tips. He drinks when and what he wants and doesn't seem to answer to anyone but himself, until one day he's hit with a bombshell! Ron finds out that he has HIV, but even worse than that, he has only days to live. So, Woodruff goes through what most anyone would when hit with something that life-changing, that life-shaping, that tragic. He goes into denial and hopes that it's all a bad dream, but sadly, it wasn't. Woodruff found himself in a new arena, one that required more than gratifying acts of pleasure and more than epic weekends at the tavern. Woodruff found himself in a sea of quicksand with no life-line in sight. Until, he finds a way out, but not just any way, he finds "The Way" and his way is the story you shall see in this film. "Dallas Buyers Club" is definitely a film to sip slowly, as some of the film's content can be rather potent at times. This movie isn't any "Bang, Bang Shoot Em-Up", this film is about real life and real people going through "real" things. The struggle Woodruff experiences throughout this film is probably one of the most captivating and relevant stories to come out in the last five years. McConaughey's performance shows us that he too understood the gravity of this compelling story and he's got the Oscar to prove it. Jared Leto also makes some waves in this film as the main supporting actor and his performance was breath-taking to say the least. This guy comes out of a 6-year acting hiatus and literally blows minds, as he taps into the character of Rayon, a transgender sweetheart, also in the icy grips of HIV. Rayon finds Woodruff at a low point and the two of them embark on a remarkable journey that will show you what it truly means to survive. After watching this film, one can't help, but be thankful for their health, family and opportunities all around. There's a lot of people around us that are sick and unable to even dream of the chances a lot of us overlook or take for granted everyday. Use the time and energy you have to make not only you're life better, but also improve the lives of those around you. There are too many people in this world going through real pain for us to be self-centered and uncaring about things we can improve on. If you have a voice, use it and use it in the hopes that your efforts will make a positive impact on something you believe in. Unhinged Reviews recommends this fine piece of cinema for those that can handle a closer look at a real life problem that affect us all. We also suggest that this film should be viewed by anyone looking to create a compelling drama of their own that's based on true events.
