What's "Boy" About?
"Boy" tells the story of a young girl named Emilie, who is struggling to find balance between making her mother proud and identifying her own sexuality. From the first appearance, it's seems that Emilie is just your average tomboy, but as things progress, her dilemma becomes a bit more obvious.
Emilie wants to be a boy! And no matter how she styles her hair or wears baggie clothes, her mother just doesn't take the hint. So what is she to do?
Now, she could rebel and yell then lock herself behind a closed door, but that would be too easy. She could also suppress her deepest desires and get a boyfriend and live her life miserable.
So what is she to do? Well to find out, you'll have to watch the film at the bottom of the review;)
A Few Interesting Tidbits About "Boy"
Now, as avid viewers of quality cinema, we are more than pleased with this intriguing mini production. "Boy" could have easily been one of those, unmemorable shorts that people don't even bother to talk about, but they opted for a hot topic instead.
And what topic is that? Sexuality. If anything sells more than sex, it's talking about someone's sexuality or even more, making a film about it.
As you dive into this short dip, you will witness the confusion and strain that both Emilie and her family go through as she attempts to explore who she is.
It's tough enough just getting up in the morning, but imagine getting up feeling that you were trapped in the wrong body. It's got to be an extremely uncomfortable experience and hopefully this short film is as close as you get to the real thing.

After Watching, "Boy"
It's not hard to see that the essence of a quality film isn't in the running time, but in what's done with the minutes given.
Most big box office productions need 1 1/2 to 2 hours to tell a story and "Boy" does it in 16 minutes. No fillers, no super high budget, just a message and some video. Sometimes that's all you need.
So with that said, What did you think of "Boy" ? Or have you not seen it yet?
