![]() "Blown Away" starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones equals classic throwback! I felt it was only right to give this movie the blast it deserves. Tommy and Jeff give amazing performances in this one as the two hash out a vendetta that has brimmed for more than half their lives. Bridges plays Jimmy, a top notch Bomb Squad Expert and Tommy stars as Ryan, an Irish terrorist with a love for Big Explosions. The mixture of the two energies in this film makes for an action-packed percussion blast guaranteed to knock you off your feet! The heart of the film revolves around Jimmy, and a past that he tries to forget. But, sometimes in life the things that we run from find their way back into our lives, 10 fold. Ryan makes it a point to punish Jimmy for turning his back on the cause, country and brotherhood they once shared. The beginning of the movie captures your attention from jump as $%^&( you thought I was going to tell you didn't you). This one scene by itself sets the tone and pace for an edge-of-the-seat thrill ride. I've always enjoyed movies where there are a lot of explosions, chaos and people running slow motion away from earth-shattering blasts. These types of elements make for excellent entertainment if you ask me, the sheer magnitude of destruction that comes along with these creative playful packages is just mind-blowing. Tommy Lee plays his role to a "T", who else do you know that sings U2 songs while building what some may call the filet-mignon of bombs. The character development team really put some effort into giving each person personality and that's a Big Thumbs Up here at Unhinged Reviews. No one likes to see a flat movie with drone-like performances from a celeb, no matter whether their A or B list. The pace of the movie is steady, as they provide twist after turn to keep the suspense in your pulse-pounding to a nice Ba Ba BOOM! There are also a few cameos in the film for the seasoned movie buffs that enjoy a surprise or two. Isn't it always nice to see a familiar face in a dangerous place? Or is this not the case? Guess you'll just have to find out won't you. Now this movie is no spring chicken by any means it came out in 94', but it's well worth the watch if you haven't yet seen it. So go rent or stream Blown Away now, and come back to tell us all about it! -Unhinged Reviews-
