![]() "Flipping the coin without a parachute" -Unhinged Reviews Some movies no matter how bad still manage to pull off an interesting concept, if only for a moment. 'As Above So Below" isn't a film to shout from the rooftops, but it is a film to watch. Just the concept and angle of the story is enough to keep one entertained throughout the presentation. We recently watched this film and would like to take a moment to talk about the story, but even more the idea of walking on the other-side of the mirror. Hope your life is in order, it's time to Unhinge... What's It About? "As Above So Below" is an unusual film that allows the viewer to follow a group of explorers on a quest that literally takes them through the tunnels of hell. The lead explorer, Scarlett(Weeks) is a young researcher who is "too curious" for her own good. Scarlett is the main character in the story and it's her life's mission to obtain and unlock the mystic powers of the Philosopher's stone. Now, we're all for a good exploration, but Scarlett's journey is one unlike anything she ever expected. She is aware that successfully finding the stone is something that she can't do alone, but even more, she realizes that finding the stone could potentially kill her and everyone around her. Does this stop her from pursuing a dangerous mission? Nope, instead she enlists the help of several others, with some being more willing than the rest. Maybe it's the promise of untold riches? Untold riches and dense catacombs are what await Scarlett and crew, but to even stand a chance at success they must first face hell to find heaven. "As Above So Below" is a horror film with a few surprises to keep one entertained throughout, but it's nothing that will have you looking under the bed before you sleep. Heaven Is Hell and Hell Is Heaven Now when we say, "As Above So Below" is unusual, we mean it's weird with a capital "W". This movie serves it's chill, by keeping the suspense high and opening your mind to the possibility of living in hell. Most movies these days, have the hero or heroine dead or at least having an OBE before facing the flames of hell, but not here. These curious explorers walk right into the pits of hell with a camera and no backup plan. Who in there right mind would walk right into hell for a stone? Even if the stone was worth millions, is it worth potentially losing your soul? There's a reason we don't traverse freely between the land of the living and dead. The dead are the dead and the living is the living. The infinite plan was not created to expose our consciousness to the desperation of tormented souls in hell. And hopefully it's something that no of you reading this will ever experience. Maybe that's why this film is classified as a horror. We definitely give the Dowdle brothers credit for bringing a unique concept to the table worthy of discussion. After Watching, "As Above So Below" We were left with mixed reactions. You know the deliberation you have with friends to decide how a movie truly ends. Half the room saying , "Yay" and the other half saying "Nay", you know how it goes. So now you're probably wondering, "Should you watch this movie?". Well, if you you're up for a good twist on what it's like to face one's fears, "As Above So Below" is a film for you. But if you're one that that needs more than an idea and wants more blatant demonic action, you'll probably want to sit this one out. Either way, you can rent this film at your favorite film depot or catch it on demand tonight.
