  We knew it was going to be good, but it was even better than expected!  "American Hustle" is a wonderful movie showing that even one of the greatest cons can have a heart of gold.  Christian Bale stars as Irving Rosenfeld, a seasoned con that could sell a fur-coat to a bear(lol).  This guy truly knows his stuff and he's working on one of his biggest cons to date.  There's only one problem though, he could have never anticipated the emotional weight  that his latest scheme would carry.

  Now, as we dig into this 70s goodie bag, let us just say that the whole cast is amazing!  They truly get into character and give us a glimpse of what the hustle and bustle of the 70s was all about.  Cooper's hair for instance was classic, but Bale and his sunglasses truly take the cake!  He was made for those shades and we can imagine that we'll be seeing a lot more of those glasses floating around as people see the film.  It's all about the details folks, details.  

 The film "American Hustle" starts off by showing Irving(Bale) knee-deep in some serious manipulation, working his magic on a popular politician.  Everything from his shirt to his Uber Comeover is on point and headed for the con of a lifetime, but something goes awry.  Maybe his partner, Richie(Cooper) is too eager or maybe Carmine(Renner) has suspicions of his own. After all, Carmine is a mayor and we know mayors tend to come into contact with the seediest of them all.  The low lifes, the corrupt politicians, the crime lords and even Mr. Tellegio.  

  One of the lovely standouts in this film is the fall back. You know when they go back into a character's history and give up the goods to better illustrate the character's present?  Yeah, they have that in this film which reminds us of that classic mob movie feel that we enjoyed so much in "GoodFellas".  They even have that narrative thing going on as well, it's a textbook demonstration of story-telling which adds depth to the already intriguing plot.   

  The actresses in this movie also add oomph to the picture's overall body. Namely, Sydney(Adams), she's Rosenfeld's right hand, leg and thigh.  She's the glass that holds his wine, but it wasn't always like that at first, he had to mold her.  Sydney is very adept at wooing potential vics and it's her undying devotion that puts Irv in touch with Carmine in the first place.  Then we have Rosalyn(Lawrence), a fiery mouth piece that keeps Irv on his toes and his mind moving forward.  It's her unique blend of neurotic sexy that somehow always gives Irv that extra push when he becomes stagnant and doubtful.

  The action of the film is primarily based on the shuffle of leverage that one character has over the other.  Oh, did we forget to mention?  Irv isn't the only con in the film..lol  He just happens to be the main one that we follow in the story.  There's a slew of other manipulative characters in this film that keep suspicions high and take the risks even higher!  We're not going to point them out because that would ruin the experience, but they are in there.  

  As for the heart of gold, Irv knows the value of an honest man, but sometimes his ethics and line of work don't always mesh.  How can you cheat someone without feeling empty?  How can one sleep at night knowing that thier actions are the reason someone else's life is flipped upside down?  Let's just be glad that it's Irv's burden to carry and not ours.  

  So that's all we're going to give you about "American Hustle" in this review, but we'll gladly give more in the comments, once we hear what you thought of the film.  This film is recommended for those that like a good con film and for those that enjoy a quality soundtrack.  It's stellar, the sounds of the movie really put you in that mindset of "American Hustle".  So get out to your theater and see it today!  It's one helluva ride, you dig(lol).  Couldn't help it, had to do it.
