![]() "An earthquake's tremor shakes long after the initial crack, Wang Deng's story is an example of it's impact" -Unhinged Reviews As a child, we can often grow up thinking that our glass houses will last forever, but what happens when an earthquake shatters everything in an instant? "Aftershock", depicts just one crystal clear image of a shattered life that attempts to recover from the 1976 earthquake in Tangshan. The film follows the story of one little girl named, Wang Deng who was caught in a moment's chaos and left damaged forever. Her story is dramatic, saddening and very real. Let's Unhinge... In The Blink Of An Eye Wang Deng was just a little girl when it happened, but that single moment in time would shape the rest of her life. As the earthquake hit, there wasn't anytime for prayer, not a moment to run a hide, just pure destruction. People screaming, people crying and quite simply, death at every turn. It's really easy to lose touch when there's just so much chaos. One can lose touch with their mind, possessions and in Wang Deng's case, her family. What? Yeah, that's what the movie is about. The little girl, Wang Deng(Jingchu) is separated from her family during the earthquake of 1976 and must rebuild what's left of her life, on her own. Fortunately, there are a few nice people that she meets along the way who try to soften the blow with love and warmth, but is it enough? How can someone stripped of their family, by one of earth's greatest destroyers just simply forget what happened? How can Wang Deng forget the last words that she heard her mother say? If she could forget, it would be much easier, but that's not life. She will never forget and the only way she will ever find peace within her life is to go back. Back to where her whole life changed in an instant, back to Tangshan, but will she find the courage to go? Food For Thought After watching a film like this, one can't help, but to appreciate the little things life has to offer. You know things like clean water, food to eat and "No Catastrophic Earthquakes". It's amazing what goes on in other parts of the world, maybe it's the geographic location or maybe it was just meant to be. "Aftershock" is not a film to watch if you're looking for an action blockbuster, but it's something to watch if want to see something real. Something very genuine. A film based on true events. -Unhinged Reviews- If you enjoyed reading this Unhinged Review of "Aftershock" please share another. Thanks in advance.
