![]() " When the one you love doesn't love you back, your limits will be tested beyond your imagination" -Unhinged Reviews "44 Inch Chest" is an interesting film about a man clinging on to his sanity, after the woman he loves suddenly has a change of heart. Ray Winstone stars as Colin Diamond, in this dramatic tale of love, jealousy, passion and rage! So without further delay, let us now Unhinge. Colin Diamond(Winestone) was just your average man coming home to his wife after a long day earning his keep. He walks in the door with the the usual roses and warm affections expressing his love, but something in his wife's eye just didn't seem right. Her eyes didn't light up as they have many years before and this time, it was different. There was something more than just a bad day, she, Liz(Whalley) had a few words to say to her husband of 20 plus years. The words she told him hit like a ton of bricks and Colin's world tumbled to the ground. It was all he could do to seek the comfort of his brethren and hopefully, just maybe, get back on his feet. The first friend he calls is a man named Archie(Wilkinson), an easy going warm, sensible character who responds with reason and understanding. Another fellow summoned to the aid of Colin is a charismatic man, a suave gentleman with no entanglements or attachments to the idea of emotion. These are just two of four that come to his side, but the events that follow will leave them all speechless and reminded of just how thin the line is between Love and Rage! "44 Inch Chest" is an amazingly well-written film that allows viewers to see top-notch acting at it's core. Some of the dialogue for the characters goes on for minutes which takes an extraordinary level of skill to pull off in a seamless flow. The very interactions between each of the characters is what draws you in even further, as Colin begins to lose his sense of reality. This film could be classified as a psychological thriller, just for the extent of the psychosis Colin experiences, but it's so much more than that. What happens to Colin in this film could easily happen to anyone of us and that is what makes this story a very "Real" film that will stick close to your heart. The supporting cast chosen for this film is a quality mesh of actors we all know and appreciate for compelling performances. For example, John Hurt whose been in several movies embeds himself within a memorable character, as another one of Colin's constituents. One of the best things about the film, again, is the conversation. The language is upfront, direct and full of emotion, be it rage or love. It's intense to say the least, but this is the very glue that makes this movie the amazing production that it has come to be. When you watch this film, you will feel what Colin feels, you will experience what Liz feels, but most importantly you will have a greater sense of appreciation for the love you have in your own life. Love is one of those double-edged swords that at some point, will draw blood and it will probably be yours, but will you be strong enough to carry on? We've all seen the tattered lives of men and women who have suffered the sting of the blade and for some they survive and for others, well, let's just say, they aren't that lucky. So in wrapping up this review, we recommend "44 Inch Chest" for those that enjoy a solid film with compelling dialogue to prove no man is an island and true love's twin is pain. -Unhinged Reviews- If you enjoyed our Unhinged Review of "44 Inch Chest", please share this with others, so that good cinema will spread, as well as, the reach of site.
