![]() Eminem is someone that you can't deny when you think about the most influential MCs in the hiphop game. His impressive body of work has been felt across the entire world. The only people that have not heard of his music or his image at this point would have to live in a mud-hut somewhere in the Lost City Of Atlantis. Marshall Mathers is one of the greatest MCs to ever pick up the profession and it is for that very reason that he must be Unhinged. "The Way I Am" is the song that we've picked to discuss his uncanny abilities as a Juggernaut in the world of Hip Hop. Everything you hear in the song breathes, permeates, exudes his insatiable passion for intense word play. I remember when I first heard the song, you want to talk about someone pulling over the car! I felt that I couldn't turn the track up loud enough, I wanted everyone in the world to hear the awesome song blasting out of my speakers. Of course, my ears were ringing by end of the song, but that didn't matter because I was playing what I thought was the hottest rap song ever! As soon as the piano keys come in you already know your in for something great. Dr. Dre's production of Emimen's "The Way I Am" truly captured his essence and provided him with an intricate landscape to ultimately obliterate any thought of opposition from peers in his field. One thing you notice about Emimem's songs is that he's not talking about how much money he has or how many chains he could buy, he's in a league of his own. Eminem talks about real feelings, real-life struggles and he did this all without needing an assist from industry artists already established at the time. There are a few that have tried, but not many will ever have a tsunami-type impact in the world of Hip Hop. "I sit back with this pack of zig-zags and this bag of this weed/ it gives me the sh*t needed to be the most meanest MC'- Slim Shady (The Way I Am) Take a moment at look at the quote above, go ahead and read it a few times. That's how he starts off the song, it's freakin Epic! The bar of excellence was raised at least 10 levels with this one song and from that point on the game was never the same. Artists such as Jay-Z, Nas and Redman couldn't help, but to notice the fire burning within Eminem and it wasn't before too long that they all had done music with the ill poet. Eminem has several other gems on The Marshall Mathers LP such as Stan which put him up in the stratosphere with Elton John. I mean come on, Elton John, this is a man whose played for the Queen of England! "All of this controversy circles me and it seems like the media immediately points a finger at me"- Eminem (The Way I Am) Who says words can't change the world? Eminem's music around the early 90s was the defining of a generation, a wake up call so to speak for all the sleepers. This man raised flags globally with uncharted, unprecedented lyrical content. Before, Eminem there were no stabs being taken at movie-stars musicians, activists or even one's own mother in such an open and chart-topping way. Of course he was joking with about 80% of it, but still to have the gall to utter words without fear of being banished from the world of music. It's impressive to say the least. "In the paper, the news everyday I am, I don't know it's just the way I am"- Marshall Mathers(The Way I Am) Eminem still to this day continues to hone his craft and songs like "The Way I Am" will forever be milestones that starving artists will need to reach before they can even think about approaching the throne. Everything from movies to endorsements, from MTV to BET, Marshall Mathers has seen, stepped on and conquered it all with his pen. Drugs didn't even knock him out, even though we were all concerned that he might overindulge during one awesome night of songwriting. However you slice the cake, Slim Shady a.k.a Marshall Mathers a.k.a Eminem is a phenomenal artist whose words will live on forever. I hear ya Mike, Eminem is nothing to play with! He's proven himself time and time again, only reason anyone would take a shot at him now is to get a name. Even if they did get a little buzz off of it, it would be short-lived.
